How Differential Gear works (BEST Tutorial): I just love this video of how a differential works.  The page says the movie is from the 30s, but I think some of the cars are post-war.  I put it somewhere in the 50s.

Skip forward to about two minutes in.  It’s a really great tutorial.  I find it somewhat amazing that the small teeth on those gears can withstand the stresses of moving the entire car.
