No More Windows Media Player for Mac

Microsoft to stop developing media software for Macs: No Windows Media Player for Macs? Egads! How will you ever survive?

Microsoft will stop developing a version of its Windows Media Player for Apple Computer’s Macs, and will instead offer free technology that lets people play Windows Media files using Apple’s own software.

Too bad Macs are so bad at media. You guys are screwed, man.

Quite well, thank you. My bet is that Apple will soon announce that QuickTime will read .wmv (and probably do it much better than WMP ever did.)

You’re joking, right? Apple wrote the book on media – audio, video, graphics, you name it (or it may be more accurate that the guys who wrote the book on media did it with Macs.) The only place media on the Mac sucks is with Windows Media Player. And you can’t blame that on Apple.

Um, yeah. Totally.

Oops. Spoke too soon. That trick is already done; Flip4Mac adds .wmv support to QuickTime for free. I just installed it, and it does run much smother than WMP.

Who needs Bill anyway.

Took the bait pretty well, didn’t I? I should know better by now.

What a bunch of copycats. There’s no innovation going on in the Mac world at all. You just copy what everyone else is doing.

Nope. Not sayin' nuthin. Once bitten, twice shy.

When will the sarcasm end? I’m really confused.

You’re just askin for it! Flip4Mac, 'nough said.

The sarchasm is thick. :-) I know Deane is a closet Mac-lover. (wink)

Why Windows really dominates, is that its easy to install “media” players and other unsigned s/w. Macs seem to be fussy and strict on what will run...that can be a good and also a bad thing. Now that Intel is behind Apple, will the public switch to Mac? Hmmm...not if you have Quicktime Player ...which find so anoying!...as their main media player! The only thing Quick time does very well is display JPGs!!!! Whoo hooo and it seems to want aplause for it!

I think macs are awesome. The only thing I don’t like about them is quicktime. it’s stupid.
